Uganda National Examination board (UNEB) has warned some schools in the country against issuing fake Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results which they purport to be genuine results with the intention of pleasing candidates and parents.

UNEB chairperson, Prof Mary Okwakol, has warned that such schools risk having their examination centres cancelled.

Meanwhile, Wakiso and Kampala district have topped again in the performance registered in the Uganda advanced certificate of education results as most rural districts continue to perform poorly.

According to the results, Wakiso is leading with 9,193 students passing with 3 principle passes followed by Kampala with 5,400 and Mukono with 3,473.

Other districts that have also performed well include Masaka, Jinja, Buikwe and Mbarara.

Nakapiripirit has not got any candidate with 3 principle passes while Pakwach, Omoro, Katakwi and Buvuma have got less than 5 candidates with 3 principal passes.

The districts that performed poorly are the same district that also performed poorly in the Uganda certificate of education and primary leaving examination.

Results of 91 candidates from 21 centres have been withheld. Dan Odongo,UNEB executive secretary explains that the results were withheld due to various cases including impersonation.

Although the incidences of examination malpractice are low, Minister Muyingo says government will support UNEB in all ways possible to control and eliminate the vice.

Statistics presented by UNEB indicate many positive trends like reduction in the dropout rate, 98.6% (95,839) candidates qualifying for UACE out of the 98,524 students who sat for the 2018 exams.

According to Prof. Mary Okwakol, the UNEB chairperson ,results also indicate that there is better performance in 2018, than that of 2017, however noting concern that entries for science subjects are quite low; only just above 10 percent of the total candidature registered for science subjects.

According to the results, 36,656 students have passed with three Principal passes, about 26,467 have been able to attain two principal passes, 20,413 with one pricinpal pass while 12,303 have attained one subsidiary and 1,489 students failed after attaining F-grade compared to 1,141 in 2017.
