Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere’s Mother Christine Mukirania has died at the age of 85, after years of battling hypertension and diabetes.

The Queen Mother died today morning,Tuesday June 11, 2019 at Kilembe Mines hospital, the royal family has confirmed.

According to Moses Kibanzanga, the grandson to the deceased, Mukirania’s condition worsened about two weeks ago and was taken to Kilembe Mines Hospital where she underwent a number of operations including amputation of the leg.

“We have lost a mother and a pillar of the Rwenzururu Kingdom. When her husband died, she didn’t only take care of the young King but also led an infant Kingdom in the mountain. We have lost a fighter.” Kibanzanga says.

King Charles Wesley Mumbere has not stepped foot in Kasese since the UPDF raid on his Buhikira Royal Palace in Kasese town on November 26, 2016 that left over 100 people dead and cases mounted on him.
