As the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations action kicks off in Egypt on Friday(tomorrow), the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has ordered government to fund Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) to broadcast the games.

Kadaga instructed the ICT Minister, Frank Tumwebaze to follow up funding of 350,000 Euros (about Shs1.5 billion) to facilitate procurement of broadcast rights to air all games.

Uganda kicks off the campaign on Saturday against the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Cairo International Stadium during match day two. The other group A opponents include Zimbabwe and hosts Egypt.

Speaker Kadaga expresses optimism, noting that Uganda is counting on Uganda Cranes to bring the glory back home;

Sebastian Desabre has expressed high hopes to improve Uganda cranes’ past records in the African Cup of Nations tournament as he debuts at the tournament.

Desabre arrived in Egypt along with the 23 man squad and officials on Monday evening, four days to the Uganda Cranes’ first encounter.

“My ambition is to write a good memory with my team. We did very good things during the camp and the motivation is really high.

“We expect good results from here but the most objective is on improving the previous result Uganda had in Afcon, then we can aim higher after that,” said Desabre upon his arrival in Cairo.
