Police in Entebbe has kick-started investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was recovered from a forest close to Nkumba Central, a suburb of Katabi town council on Friday morning.

The Entebbe Division Police Commander, Baker Kawonawo, says Moses Kalikwani, who went missing on Monday evening, was found lying in a pool of blood  with the head, legs and genitals  missing. Kawonawo adds that they are investigating to find possible leads to the murderers.

Martin Niwamumpeere, an eye witness, says he had gone to collect timber and firewood from a nearby farm when he heard people who were cutting down trees fleeing after seeing a dead body.

The Area LC I Chairperson, Peter Mponye, says they rushed to the scene and realized that the deceased could have been a victim of a ritual sacrifice.

He says the assailants left behind cultural regalia including backcloth. Mponye says he informed police, which picked the deceased’s body and took it for postmortem at Entebbe Grade B Hospital.

Mponye blames the increasing criminality in the area to the bushes around Nkumba, which act as hideouts for criminal gangs targeting residents.

Kalikwani is the 11th person to be hacked to death in Entebbe in the past 5 months.
