PAUL POGBA has leaped to Romelu Lukaku’s defence after the Inter Milan star was racially abused by Cagliari fans on Sunday.

Belgian ace Lukaku, 26, scored the winner from the penalty spot as Inter left Sardinia with a 2-1 win in Serie A.

However, Lukaku was jeered and had monkey chants aimed at him by a number of home supporters.

Teammate Milan Skriniar hit out at them after the final whistle, while boss Antonio Conte urged Italian football to change its attitudes and move into the 21st century.

The ex-Chelsea boss said: “I didn’t hear anything from the bench.

“However, it is true that in general more education is needed in Italy.

“I have also heard Ancelotti complain about the constant insults received on certain pitches.

“When you are abroad there is more respect, the fans think only of supporting their team.”

Former Manchester United teammate Pogba has now had his say on the matter after being racially abused online this season.

He remains close friends with Lukaku after their years together at Old Trafford.

And Pogba has urged the Cagliari fans – and all racist supporters – to educate themselves after Everton’s Moise Kean was also abused at the same venue while playing for Juventus last season.

Pogba wrote on social media: “Education is the key. It does not matter if you like school or not.

“Go to classes and LEARN as much as you can anyhow. It’s your way ahead in life. #BetterLife #NoRacism #DreamChaser.”
