A police constable has committed suicide after testing positive for HIV/AIDS.
Samuel Opio attached to Nakilora police post in Rupa Sub-County in Moroto district took his own life after noticing that he was HIV/Aids positive.
Opio died on November 12 at the police post where he was deployed.
Jude Nasucha, the district police commander Moroto confirmed the death of Opio recounting it as regrettable.
Nasucha believes that Opio was stressed after the death of his wife and the reality of living a Positive life alone.
Nasucah said Opio’s colleagues found his body hanging from inside one of the houses near to the police post in the Nakiloro trading center.
He advised other officers to always seek for guidance and counseling from relevant people as an alternative to committing suicide.
“Committing suicide is not the best way of solving problems in your life you but you must seek guidance and counseling,” he said.
The deceased will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Napak district in the Karamoja sub-region.
