Uganda police have retrieved a dead body of an unidentified man who was lynched by an angry mob in Mbalala, Namawojjolo, Mukono district. The incident happened on Thursday afternoon.

According to Luke Owesigirye the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was attacked and hammered by an angry mob after they accused him of attempting to raid a shop belonging to a resident identified as Nalule Matilda.

Owesigirye says police swung into action a little too late and took the body to the Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem.

Owesigirye said the deceased is believed to be at least 20 years. He appealed to residents to desist from acts of Mob justice and instead report such cases of theft to the relevant authorities for necessary action.
