President Museveni on Wednesday morning led thousands of Ugandans in an anti Corruption walk as one of the efforts aimed at intensifying the fight against corruption in his government.
The 4 km walk started at exactly 8:35 am from Constitutional Square where people gathered and set-off passing through Kampala road, Jinja road, Wampeewo road, Wampeewo Avenue up to Kololo.
There were tight security and heavy deployment from all security agencies including UPDF, police, Prisons, the Presidential Special forces command and the Private bodyguards including the Umbrella of the Uganda Bouncers Association (UUBA) and among others.
President Museveni was joined by a number of people from both government and non government agencies including the Vice president Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, Cheif Justice Bart Katureebe, Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah,Government Cheif whip Ruth Nankabirwa and other cabinet Ministers,  and members of parliament religious leaders that includes the archbishop of church of Uganda Rt Rev Stanley Ntagali, Archibishop elect Dr Steven Kazimba Mugalu just to mention but a few.
This walk under a theme of a corrupt-free Uganda starts with me comes a year after President Museveni launched the statehouse anti Corruption unit and also appointed Lt Col Edith Nakalema to lead it and since the inception of the state anti Corruption unit has so far received total of 58,415 cases of corruption were 8,022 cases were concluded while a total of 4,017 cases are currently under investigations.
The Anti-Corruption walk is part of Uganda’s participation in the global recognition of the Anti-corruption week, whose theme is “Promoting Accountability for National Development.”
