The Judiciary Anti-Corruption Taskforce has propelled seven court staff accused of being corrupt to the Internal disciplinary committee for grilling.
According to Jamson Karemani, the Judiciary Public Relations Officer, the internal disciplinary committee of the judiciary will examine the staff and if found culpable they will be forwarded to the judicial service commission or public service for further action
Karemani adds that the top management has also tasked the Permanent Secretary to interdict the five support staff and take disciplinary action in accordance with the Public Service Standing Orders.
Among them are two magistrates, two office attendants, two Court Clerks and a process server attached to the Magistrates Courts of Wakiso, Goma, City Hall, Mukono, and Nabweru respectively.
Last year, the Chief Justice, Bart M. Katureebe set up a nine-member Taskforce chaired by the then Registrar Inspectorate of Courts Dr Immaculate Busingye to investigate several Judiciary officers at different magistrates courts who had been implicated in media reports to be involved in corruption tendencies.
