The leader of opposition in parliament(LOP) Betty Aol Achan together with other opposition MPs has threatened to sleep in the chambers of parliament on Tuesday when parliament convenes its plenary sitting if justice is not brought to their colleague for the inhumane way he was treated by police operatives.

On January 13th, 2020  while passing through karukumiza trading center in karambi Sub County, visiting his electorates, the Bukonzo West Mp Atkins Katusabe claims he was ambushed by a group of joint security operatives including Police and army officers.

He accuses the officers of humiliating him before his electorates ,robbing his dollars and attempting to assassinate him.

Addressing journalists at parliament on Friday, Atkins said he was embroiled in a scuffle with the operatives and was even put on gunpoint.

The legislator also says he reportedly lost his 9125 dollars to these security officers.

During the press briefing, Atkins alongside the LOP has asked the government to investigate and put to book the police officers who are behind this act.

Atkins wants the commanders of this operation to be identified and punished for the inhuman way they treated and humiliated him to the extent of blocking him from moving freely in his constituency.

It’s upon this background that the LOP has asked fellow opposition MPs to stand in solidarity and demand for immediate action from the government.

She says several times opposition MPs have faced humiliation in the hands of security forces and no tangible action has been done. She has, however, vowed this time around, to sleep at the holy chambers until the government responds to their demand.

MP Atkins is the first on the list of the MPs who have given assurance that on Tuesday next week, they are to have a nap in the chambers.
