Police in Omoro district is investigating a case of suicide after a suspect on the run for the murder of his wife and six months old son turned up in Gulu municipality.

On Thursday last week residents discovered the decomposing bodies of the baby with the nipples of his mother in his mouth locked in their grass-thatched house in Oluba Village in Kal Parish Ongako Sub County.

Residents pointed fingers at Vincent Onencan the husband to the deceased who they accused of killing his wife and child following unresolved domestic brawls. He had since run away.

On Friday afternoon the dead body of 27-year-old Onencan was found lying in a bush under a jack fruit tree in Negri Village in Bardege Division Gulu Municipality

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson says police in Gulu are investigating a case of suicide after realizing a  packet of carbofuran, one of the deadliest pesticides adjacent to the lifeless body.

According to William Ocitti, the Ongako Sub County LC3 Chairperson, Onencan called his brother only identified as Odongpiny and notified him of his intention to commit suicide.

The deceased had become a prime suspect in the murder of his wife, Prossy Apiyo and their son, Joshua Onencan .

Okema has attributed the rampant cases of suicide to domestic problems.
