The OC,officer-in-charge of Bukuya Police station, Kassanda District ASP Obbu Franco is on the run after accidentally firing a stray live bullet at a 13-year-old boy killing him on spot in an operation.

The deceased is Patrick Manihiro, a 13-year-old pupil at Bukuya Primary School, who met his sudden demise by a stray bullet.

It all started on the 28/01/2020 when police officers at Bukuya Police received a distress call from residents within Bukuya Town Council that a raving lunatic dog was terrorizing residents in their homes and business making them race with it as it threatened to attack.

Police Mouthpiece Fred Enanga says police arrived at Bukuya Town Council around 6:00 pm, led by  ASP Obbu Franco, the officer-in-charge of Bukuya Police station who attacked the dog by firing a stray bullet but unfortunately missed it, killing Manihiro on spot.

Enanga says the accused in utter shock threw down the gun and immediately disappeared from the scene into the nearest escape route. He says a serious manhunt for his arrest is ongoing.

Enanga said in a statement released on Wednesday that Obbu should have directed the entire operation differently instead of firing live bullets in the air at a vicious dog.

Enanga has issued a warning to friends and relatives with knowledge about his whereabouts, to desist from any acts of harboring him, and instead share information with the Police in Wamala Region on 0713-940934 or 0713-940935.

Martin Okoth Ochola the IGP says he has tasked a team he dispatched to speed up investigations and ensure that the suspect captured and brought to justice.

He also expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and promised action would be taken.
