It was a fun scene to watch when Taxi operators at Bukasa Stage Bweyogerere on Monday morning decided to take matters into their own hands and scrub a bus conductor clean following a series of complaints from colleagues and customers.
Sekayombya Deo was forced to bathe after his colleagues ambushed him on at a swamp where they usually wash their taxis before setting off for the days ‘work.
Prepared with bathing sponges, sand and soap they started washing and scrabbling Sekayombya for close to an hour before confirming he was clean.
Fellow conductors operating at the stage claim Sekayombya’s stench had gone a notch higher after going several days without bathing and this was affecting their operations.
They claim there is still a group of others who are in the same boat as Sekayombya and will also be taken care of.
However, the stage chairman Monday says most conductors often pass off with the excuse that they cannot bathe consistently because they lack conducive accommodation hence failure to take a bath. He says most of them literally stay and sleep in taxis.
