John Patrick Amama Mbabazi, aroused a feeling of excitement at the Tarehe Sita celebrations in Nakaseke District on Thursday, February 6, 2020, when he made a flamboyant entrance.
Clad in a nevi blue body fitting suit the former prime minister was interrupted the ongoing function with his arrival and was welcomed with a standing ovation from both government and army officials
The Master of Ceremonies was prompted at that moment to usher in the former presidential candidate describing him as “our former national leader”.
Amidst applause and cheers from the crowd and government officials, Mbabazi kept waving at the excited crowd as he proceeded to exchange pleasantries with Minister for Presidency Esther Mbayo and the head of Operation Wealth Creation, Gen Caleb Akwandanaho alias Salim Saleh
As he moved towards the tent he was greeted and saluted by officials who stood up as he approached them including the Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi, Deputy IGP Muzeeyi Sabiti among others.
And then there was the biggest handshake of the function was that between president Yoweri Museveni and his reformed colleague.
However, this is not the first time that the two have met, Last month, Mbabazi met with Museveni at the latter’s country farm in Kisozi, Gomba District.
Tarehe Sita celebrations in happened at Butalangu Grounds, Kiwoko in Nakaseke District, and were graced by H.E Yoweri Museveni is also the commander in chief.
Also at the celebration,146 UPDF soldiers, veterans, and civilians were awarded various medals for their contribution to peace in the country.
One of those awarded was the First Lady, Janet Kataaha Museveni who is also Education and Sports Minister.
