The health ministry has on Thursday afternoon isolated three Chinese nationals who returned from China two weeks ago in Mukono.

Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the Ministry of Health Spokesperson says the ministry decided to quarantine the four at their places of residence as a preventative measure against an outbreak of coronavirus now known as COVID 19.

The Chinese include  Zhong Hing, Wany Wen Xi and Ni Side, all workers at China Star Limited a factory producing iron bars in Seeta Mukono Municipality.

Ainebyoona says the Chinese will be monitored and assessed by surveillance officers from the Ministry of Health for any signs and symptoms of the virus and will be expected to resume work after depending on the results.

For confirmed infections, people present with mild symptoms including flu, fever , cough, shortness of breath while others become severely ill and die.

It is believed that the incubation period may last between 2 to 14 days after exposure.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health isolated another 220 travelers to Uganda from China at their homes a week after a group of 100 Ugandans plus Chinese were put under isolation.

Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the minister of health was, however, quick to assert that there are no confirmed cases of  Coronavirus despite the measures being taken to prevent any outbreak.

New cases and deaths in the Hubei province of china say the national death toll is now above 1,350 with almost 60,000 infections in total.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says it is seeking more clarity from China about the changes to how cases of the virus are being confirmed.

Outside China, 319 confirmed cases from 24 countries have been reported since the outbreak was declared.
