A road accident along the Musita-Lumino highway in imanyiro village, Mayuge District has claimed the lives of 15 people.
The taxi registration number UBD 089A traveling to Kampala from Namayingo town council happened at 5:00 am and was carrying 15 passengers who all died on spot.
James Mubi, the Busoga East Police Spokesperson says that the taxi rammed into a stationary sugarcane Tata Lorry reg number UWP 616 at Imanyiro village that was parked along the highway.
Mubi faulted the sugarcane truck drivers saying he has constantly cautioned them against parking along the highway since it narrows the road size resulting in accidents.
The exact cause of the accident is not yet established although investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased are at Mayuge health center four undergoing a postmortem.
