FDC candidate Paul Mwiru has flogged his NRM nemesis Nathan Igeme Nabeta Samson in the hotly contested Jinja Municipality East bi-elections.
The returning officer Rogers Sserunjoji confirmed Mwiru winner polling 6654 votes to claim the election on a wet day marred by counter allegations of pre-ballot ticketing in FDC and NRM camps.

His rival Nabeta polled 5043 votes followed by Mayemba Faisal Masaba (independent) 117, Mugaya Paul Geraldson (PPP) 48, Nyanzi Richard Henry 47 (Independent), Wakabi Francis 24 (Independent), Abuze Monica 18 (Independent) and Isabirye Hatimu Magendi 7 (Independent).
