Gulu University coach Okello Calvin attributed the loss to Bugema University to poor quality.
“The truth is they got it right and we got it wrong. We defended high at the start of the game but the nature of the pitch was not suitable for that and by the time we changed we were two goals down. Also we defended poorly for example we had short players marking taller players during set pieces,” Okello said.
The two sides met last year in the preliminary stage of the competition with Gulu winning 5-0 away in the first game and 1-0 at home in the second game.
Muni University also lost their match day two game to Nkumba losing 4-0 at Entebbe which coach Adui Okule attributed partly to fatigue.
“The Nkumba game was tough. They are one of the best teams in the league and we tried to contain them but at the end of the second half i think fatigue from the long journey set it which is partly why we conceded the three goals in the second half.” Okule said.
