President Yoweri Museveni is in an address to the nation to clarify some of the guidelines that were issued yesterday to slow down the spread of COVID-19 that has so far infected 33 people in Uganda.

Lindah Nabusayi Wamboka, the President’s Press Secretary confirmed in a tweet that the president will address the nation at 8 pm.

A few hours after the drastic measures were announced on Monday evening, there has been widespread concern among the public on a number of issues that need clarity.

Members of parliament on Tuesday afternoon had a heated debate at the parliamentary conference hall with most raising the issue of Health workers both in private and public sector not being able to access the precincts of health facilities as result no means of transportation.

The MPs also hinted on pregnant mothers and people with other ailments not being able to make it to hospitals or reaching to the absence of health personnel.

The Leader of Opposition, Betty Aol Ochan while addressing a press conference on Tuesday at her boardroom, Aol said the President left a lot of unanswered questions after his address. She says for instance that Members of Parliament have been affected since the movement of private cars has been prohibited.

Over Eight banks in Kampala didn’t open for business today leaving the majority of their customers with no ATM cards stranded.

A section of the public was also inquisitive to know who qualifies to receive food donations from the government and what procedure would be taken.

The essential services outlined by the president to remain operating like Medical teams, veterinary services, Banks, Cleaning services, Garbage collectors, Fire Services, Door-to-Door delivery services, Petrol stations, KCCA and Uganda Revenue Authority failed to maximumly operate as they met resistance from the traffic police officers to reach their workplaces in private travels.

However, Roadblocks were placed at most roads with vigilant traffic officers mainly targeting private vehicles to check for the numbers seating in each.

President  Museveni has also announced a ban on all people-to-people movements for 14 days.
