Police in Wandegeya has in custody a suspect for being in possession of an assortment of Military ware.

The suspect was intercepted on Wednesday at Wandegeya Traffic lights checkpoint by D/CPL Amanya  Bruce who was validating the sticker on his ride a Toyota Wish Registration number UEB 038V while enforcing Presidential directives to curb the spread of COVID19.

Upon searching his car police found he had in his possession a toy black pistol, UPDF identity card, tear gas canisters and stickers belonging to the People’s government.

Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson identified the suspect as Haruna Kyambadde Kasirye a resident of Lugala Masanafu Rubaga division.

Onyango says he has been charged with two counts of being in possession of government stores and possessing breaking implements

At the time of his arrest, Haruna alleged he was headed to the Office of the Prime Minister- OPM to hand over relief items to the national taskforce prompting the officers on duty to interrogate him and demand to see his residence.

At his residence police discovered an army green uniform said to be of the UPDF and a pair of spanners.
