Muslims have been cautioned to adhere to covid_19 guidelines as they observe fasting the holy month of Ramadhan.

According to the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje Ramadan will commence tomorrow 24th April 2020.

During the whole month of Ramadan, Muslims fast and pray to seek forgiveness, blessings, and mercy of Allah Almighty.

Mufti Shaban said once the moon is not sighted this on Wednesday evening, Ramadan will automatically begin on Friday.

Giving his Ramadan message, the mufti of Uganda called on the Muslims to observe all the conditions for fasting but also adhere to the guidelines issued by the president on COVID-19 that banned public gatherings like Mosques for prayers,

He advised Muslim faithful to avoid any excuses and go on with personal prayers within the confines of their homes.

He also urged the government and all well-wishers like the private sector and cultural institutions, foreign missions, and even rich Muslims to give a hand of support to the vulnerable Muslims in Uganda who will be fasting for the next 30days with food relief donations.

Mufti Shaban also appreciated the president Museveni, the Ministry of Health, and the various arms of the government for efforts put in the fight against COVID 19.

He also urged Ugandans to continue adhering to the directives put in place to avert the spread of the novel virus.
