Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake is fighting for his life on oxygen at Kiruddu Hospital in Kampala after his health condition deteriorated.

The staunch people power legislator was picked up by police on the 19th of April 2020 and subjected to torture that saw him frail and later hospitalized.

On Monday Elias Kakooza, the Mityana chief magistrate ordered that Zaake seek medical attention first before his case is heard.

He was instead driven back to CID in Kireka.

The inspector general of police -IGP Okoth Ochola on Tuesday said that Zaake refused police bond and that’s why he was taken back to detention.

On Wednesday, the Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi took to social media claiming that Zaake’s condition had worsened and that doctors were contemplating taking him into intensive care.

His tweet reads ;

“Hon Zaake’s health condition has worsened. He has now been placed on oxygen at Kiruddu hospital where he is admitted and still under police detention. The doctors are contemplating taking him into the ICU. A Member of Parliament is tortured to near death by regime enforcers!”.

Kyagulanyi alleges that Zaake was brutalized by security operatives attached to the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and police.

“He was brutalized by CMI and Police,” he said

Museveni while addressing the nation on Tuesday night again warned politicians including NRM MPs and Ministers against interfering in the distribution of food. He said that all those caught doing so will be dealt with harshly for helping in the spread of the coronavirus.

“That’s why the other fellow called Zaake had been arrested but how do you arrest Zaake and leave these ones of the NRM including ministers?,” Museveni said referring to the MP Francis Zaake, who was arrested for distributing food.

Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga recently told journalists in Kampala that the MP’s torture claims would be investigated by relevant authorities.
