Minister Amelia Kyambadde has been in the news for her robust pleas for the poor.

Amelia has become a darling on social media after making two appearances at President Yoweri Museveni’s national Covid-19 addresses.

She passionately fought for President Museveni to allow police to return boda bodas they impounded to their owners.

The trade and industry minister made an appearance on NBS TV Frontline show on Thursday night to debate on Parliament’s role in Shs10Bn facilitation  and the economy.

Amelia stormed the show in a saucy V-shaped dress flashing her cleavage. She wore cream matching necklace beads and ear rings.

She kept her hair natural. In the show with her were government spokesman Ofwono Opondo and Democratic Party President Norbert Mao.

Amelia on the Shs10Bn to MPs, said: “The court has made a ruling on this. I said before that it was untimely for us to receive the money. I returned it. I don’t want to comment on the Speaker because she is my boss.”

She tipped on Speaker Rebecca Kadaga’s outbursts: “These are people of the same family. They will eventually harmonise. The Speaker will eventually calm down.”

Amelia opened up on the economy, fearing: “Tourism has been most hit, but it will regain after the lock down.”

She added: “Before Covid-19, we were doing very well economically. The economy that was growing at 6% is now declining. We are not importing essential commodities that we are using now.”

Amelia however, believes Covid-19 has presented opportunity: “There is room now for E-Commerce and we are going to maintain that post #COVID19. Banks have realised they need both small and medium enterprises. Another lesson we are learning is the need for storage and that agriculture is key.”

She confirmed: “After the lockdown, Government is planning to retain the youth especially the boda boda riders, trainings by MTAC are going to roll out in various constituencies targeting those who went to the villages during the crisis.”
