It was all shock and tremor after a Uganda Peoples Defence Forces-UPDF soldier on the run shot dead his senior and injured his colleague in an incident inside Nakasongola Military Barracks.
The soldier at the rank of Lance Corporal stormed the residence of a Major on Sunday evening shooting him dead for reportedly declining his request to grant him leave to attend to an emergency at home.
It is alleged that the soldier returned with a gun and opened fire killing the Major and injuring another officer before he fled
Lieutenant Ibrahim Ssekito, the Nakasongola Military Barracks spokesperson declined to divulge details on the particulars of the deceased saying that the Army needed to first inform his relatives about his demise.
Ssekito says the injured junior officer is now hospitalized at Nakasongola Military Hospital and the military has launched a manhunt for the criminal soldier.
