A senseless, self-proclaimed pastor in Mubende district on Sunday killed himself by burning a house to sheer ashes after hacking two children belonging to his Fiance in the same house.
Ronald Ssewanya also known as Saddam while at Kirungi B village in Mubende Municipality reportedly visited the fiancee’s house locking himself in with the blameless children before setting it ablaze.
It is alleged that the pastor had earlier kept pounding and battering his fiancee Josephine Namakula, a businesswoman, during this lockdown prompting her to temporarily vacate his home together with her babies for fear of losing her life.
The dead children are 18-year-old Doreen Nagawa and his ten-year-old brother, Ben Makumbi.
A teary and broken Derrick Sekiziyivu, Namakula’s elder son, who narrowly survived the incident explained that the pastor timed when their mother was away and visited, pleading with them to stay for a night while he waited for her to return.
Sekiziyivu, says the heartless Pastor Ssewanyanashocked them in the middle of the night when he picked up a sharp knife and hacked his siblings to death before torching the house to the ground
He narrates that he was helpless and couldn’t defend his siblings hence running out of the house.
Mubende District Police Commander, Julius Ahimbisibwe suspects that the incident could have been a crime of passion instigated by domestic violence on the part of the man.
He says Police have retrieved the bodies and taken them to Mubende Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem before they are handed over to the relatives for burial.
