The speaker of parliament has tasked Members of Parliament -MPs to combine a list of security officers at the front of the fight against COVID-19 who have not been paid allowances.
This follows complaints to the Internal Affairs Minister from a section of MPs on Tuesday during a plenary session chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga during citing no payment of security officers for months now.
Kadaga declined to get the list of unpaid security officers from the Internal affairs Minister but suggested to the MPs to make one of their own that would be fronted to confront him.
Parliament recently appropriated a supplementary budget of Shillings 504 billion that was allocated to the security sector.
It all started with Odonga Otto the Aruu South MP who raised a matter of National Importance saying that out of the supplementary COVID-19 budget approved, no police officers, military officers, and Local Defence Unit (LDU) officers on deployment has been paid allowances.

Odonga claims the security officers are on normal deployment, only fed on posho and beans, and have been ordered not to demand any allowances.
Odonga says he sampled three border points of Marupe, Ngoromo, and Alwenlwi bordering Sudan alongside Olanyah Gilbert the Mp Kilak county and the story was the same.
Odonga demands an explanation from the Defence Minister Adolf Mwesige on why the police officers manning roadblocks, LDUs, and Military officers have not received any allowances to date.

The Mukono South MP Johnson Muyanja Senyonga who promised to put up the list of unpaid officers by end of this week claims some of the officers have gone 18months now without pay.
He says the minister took to the floor of parliament after the allocation and promised to pay arrears of all police officers but nothing has been done to that effect.
Senyonga attributes the actions of some police officers against civilians to emotional stress as a result of no payment.
He requested Speaker Kadaga to task the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Okoth Ochola to explain why police officers were going without pay.
