Kenya has finally confirmed move by East African countries to work together to reduce inter-regional infections.

Kenya’s Covid-19 cases have gone up to 607 after 25 more test positive in the last 24 hours, Health CAS Rashid Aman revealed.

Dr. Rashid Aman, Cabinet Assistant Secretary, said: “Seven were discharged after full recovery pushing the number to 197.”

The cases from Nairobi are spread in the following estates; Eastleigh (9), Kawangware (2), Parklands (2), Riruta (1),
South C (1), Umoja (1), Juja Road (1), Mombasa; Likoni, (1), Nakuru; Solai (1).

The ages of today’s positive cases range from 8 years for the youngest and 73 years for the oldest. 21 are males and 4 are females.

Dr. Aman confirmed: “All cross-border truck drivers are required to be tested at the point of origin of their journey and obtain a certificate showing they are Covid-19 free. There will be reciprocal arrangements between Kenya-Tanzania and Kenya-Uganda on this.”

He said: “People were reluctant to present themselves for testing. Testing and quarantine will be catered for by the govt. People should now come to be tested.”

Dr. Aman also stated: “For those welcoming relatives coming from high-risk areas; You are placing yourself in danger. I appeal to those in Eastleigh, Old Town to remain within the areas”

He explained: “We have observed that some people have decided to sneak out of Eastleigh and Old Town and relocate to other areas. This move is counter-productive as it promotes spread of the disease into areas where people are moving into.”
