A 20-year-old man who was nabbed committing incest with his 16-year-old first cousin has survived an attempt to commit suicide.
The man whose identity has been concealed is a resident of Dino Village in Odek SubCounty in Omoro district .
The guilty man to reportedly took matters took matters in his own hands and tried to end his life with poison after his relatives found about the act of incest with his Aunt’s granddaughter.
The Uncle John Bosco Odongkene, says the guilty Man drunk a poisonous substance on Saturday last week after being ordered by village elders to raise Shillings 200, 000 and buy 2 cattle for his Aunt’s family to cleanse his 16-year-old first cousin.
However, he was found in time and rushed to Lalogi Health Center IV where he is battling for his life.
John Kennedy Okema, the Dino Village LC I chairperson was shocked by the incident and revealed that this is the first time his village has witnessed a case of incest .
Okema says Odek clan leaders are still bitterly waiting to make a decision once the shamed man is out of danger.
Incest contravenes section 149 of the penal code act and anybody who commits the offense is liable to seven years of imprisonment and if the victim is below 18 years old, to imprisonment for life.
