Jinja Resident District Commissioner -RDC Erick Sakwa has dashed to the high court, seeking a Judicial review of his interdiction.

In his application, through his legal counsel, Evans Ochieng Sakwa states that the alleged interdiction does not specify approval from his appointing authority.

Ochieng says that the appointing authority should follow the rightful procedures while executing disciplinary measures against public officers.

The application also states that interdiction on grounds of any form of criminal charges was not listed in the terms and conditions of his appointment letter dated October 17, 2018.

He further says the letter was delivered by unidentified persons who never interfaced with his client.

The application has been filed against hajji Yunus Kakande and the Attorney General, at the Jinja High Court.

Hajji Yunus Kakande, the Secretary in the Office of the president wrote to Sakwa in a letter dated May 04th, 2020, ordering him to step aside indefinitely, in accordance with the public service standing orders.

This followed charges levied on the embattled RDC of malicious damage, manslaughter, theft, and his subsequent imprisonment.

The prosecution alleged that Sakwa, alongside two others stole three crates of beer, 80,000 Shillings, eight trays of eggs, sachets of empire waragi, and soda valued at Shillings 429,000 belonging to one Charles Isanga, a trader and later beat him up for flouting the presidential directives against COVID-19.

He died a few days later. Sakwa was arrested and imprisoned in connection to his death but was later released on bail.

However, Sakwa has since he received this letter declined to exit office claiming his interdiction was fake and had loopholes in its delivery.
