The Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, has encouraged the Muslim community countrywide to religiously follow guidelines in place to contain the spread of COVID-19 as they look forward to Eid celebrations.
In a written congratulatory to Muslims on completing the holy month of Ramadan, the Kabaka advises Muslims to stay obedient to the Ministry of Health and the President’s directives on COVID-19.
The Kabaka also reiterated the same message of the Mufti of Uganda encouraging Muslims to pray from home to contain the spread of the virus.
He also advised Muslims during their prayers to ask that a solution is found to the novel virus.
“We commiserate and pray for our people here in Uganda who have tested positive of the virus. We believe that the treatment they are receiving from the doctors will help them recover,” Mutebi said.
He also calls on Muslims to assist the needy by giving and maintain peace and forgiveness.
Kabaka Mutebi said this year has been extremely challenging due to the pandemic that continues to ravage the entire world.
Muslims look forward to celebrating Eid-el Fitri on Saturday or Sunday.
The Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje has called upon the faithful to pray from their homes and avoid congregating.
Ramadhan is the ninth month on the Islamic Calendar which is observed by fasting from dawn to dusk by all able-bodied mature Muslims.
It climaxes with the celebration of Eid El Fitri held on the first day of the tenth month on the Islamic calendar.
