The traffic police officer who was knocked by a motor vehicle has on Tuesday, May 26 passed on.
Constable Innocent Ayesigye attached to Seeta police station was suddenly hit by white Prado UAS 597U at Namanve along Jinja Road on Sunday evening.
Ayesigye was riding a Jiansey white motorbike aUP 2164 when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, has confirmed through a Facebook post that Ayesigye was pronounced dead on Tuesday morning at the hospital where he was admitted.
It reads “Our Traffic Officer NO. 59242 PC AYESIGYE INNOCENT who was knocked by motor vehicle registration number UAS 597U RAV4 has passed on at Rubaga Hospital this morning.”
Onyango says police are still looking for the driver of the car and asked him to report to the nearest police station.
On that fateful day, the driver of the Prado who is on the run, rammed into Ayesigye from the back, causing him to fall before another vehicle a blue Ford UBG 896E that was coming from the front.
Ayesigye sustained a compound fracture and was rushed to hospital in a critical state.
The Ford driver identified as Robert Ntambi is a resident of Bweyogerere division, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.
The Ford vehicle UBG 896E has since been impounded at Bweyogerere police station.
