Back in early 2000s, singer Big Size Bebe Cool used to brag about recording his songs in Ogopa Studios, based in Nairobi. He always reasoned out that no audio studio in Uganda at that time could meet the standards of his music.
But it has turned out that he actually did record most of his songs from Uganda but apparently didn’t want to credit the producers.
According to veteran Dream Studios and Firebase music Producer Tony Houls, he is the one who recorded Bebe’s collabo with Bobi Wine ‘Funtula’ but the Gagamel chief lied to the public that it was recorded by Ogopa DJs .
“Back then musicians were ashamed to say that they recorded songs in Uganda. Even us the Producers, we did not have a lot of confidence to own our works,” Tony Houls revealed before unmasking Bebe’s blatant lies.
“I recorded the song Funtula without the help of anyone. But Bebe Cool didn’t credit me. He went on to thank Ogopa DJs who did nothing,”.
Funtula still ranks among Bebe’s biggest collabos to date. The pair recorded that song to attack Chameleone who was on top of his music game. To inflict more musical misery on them, Chamili responded to their diss by dropping two mega hits, Dorotia and Nekolera Maali.
Tony Houls further opened that Bebe Cool is not the founder of Firebase as he claims. According to the producer, the group was founded by Bobi and Bebe came in later.
Tony Houls is the brain behind Bobi songs like, Ghetto, Bada, Adam Ne Kaawa, Mazzi Mawanvu, Kiwaani and many others.
He also co-produced Bebe Cool’s Ssente, Fire Anthem and others.
