At first many people thought it was a joke when the minister of Agriculture Hon Vincent Ssempijja said that government was planning of having all domestic animals issued with birth certificates.

The Minister revealed the audacious government plan at the opening of the 27th Source of the Nile National Agriculture Show, organised by the Uganda National Farmers Federation in Jinja Municipality

Although the minister didn’t reveal when the registration process will begin, he emphasized the importance of registering all animals in the country as the general initiative was in line with the fulfillment of international market requirements for animal products.

“Government will register the owner of the cow, and the village where the farm is located. Every cow will be allocated a serial number, and every calf will be given a certificate at birth,” Vincent Ssempijja the agriculture minister said a fortnight ago.

Two weeks after airing out government plans of having all animals registered, it now seems like an insider has already leaked how the proposed birth certificates will look like.

Already copies showing some of the registered animals have found their way on the internet and have been widely shared
