A Kampala based businessman who was on the run for butchering his sister in a banana plantation over a family land wrangle has been lynched.

Cleophas Twinamasiko met his death by the hands of an angry mob in Rukungiri district who accused him of brutally killing his sister.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, said on Wednesday that Allen Komuhangi, 30, a resident of Omwitaba cell, Ndere parish Ruhinda Sub County in Rukungiri district was brutally hacked on Monday morning.

A search for her brother Twinamasiko was mounted in connection to her death.

However, as fate had it, Twinamasiko was spotted in Butabo cell in Ruhinda Sub County on Wednesday afternoon by a crowd that gathered and pounded him to death.

Police have since nabbed the ring leaders of the mob including Charles Musasizi, Ambrose Mucunguzi, Christine Ainembabazi for thumping to death the suspect.

The Rukungiri District Police Commander, Moses Nanoka confirmed the arrest of the suspects and cautioned residents against taking the law in their own hands in mob justice.

He says the deceased’s body is lying at Rwakabengo Health center III pending postmortem and inquiries continue at Rukungiri central police station vide CRB 250/2020.
