Anger continues to build among citizens over 10Billion Shillings shared among the country’s legislators to fight Covid-19 in their constituencies.

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga posted on her personal Twitter account justifying the Shs10Billion allocated to Parliament.

Kadaga explained: “We have ambulances commandeered by Ministry of Health. The drivers have to be paid and ambulances serviced. MPs are also busy on advocacy. Committees are following up on what is happening in hospitals and they are reporting to the country.”

The Speaker last night again took to her personal Twitter account to share: “For a start the members of parliament have recorded advocacy messages in English and the local language of each mp l hope you have listened to the broadcasts.”

The Speaker’s defence of her team was met with anger among citizens who took to her comments section.

Evelyn Lirri: “Recording a message now costs 20million? I want to record one for even half that price.”

Onyait Stephen: “@BebeCoolUG in his Corona Distance song has done it 0 cost and the whole country is all almost sensitized in there languages, what message will the 20m for each MP pass – nothing other than hatred. Do your jobs not at people’s expenses, period.”

Rutahigwa Justus: “Is this value for money for our 10bn that is 20 m shs for each MP. Please be honorable enough and spare us these jokes. In other countries policy makers are cutting salaries to support the poor in Covid-19 crisis, Ugandan Policy makers are adding more to their huge salaries.”

MSKahima: “Rolling on the floor laughing let me ask as a falla, was this pegged on the supplementary budget or it was voluntary?Man shruggingMan shrugging some have even contributed some ka money to their respective districts’ COVID-19 taskforces but not enough justification for the 10bn madam speaker.”

Oriba L Dan, MD: “I can’t believe this is coming from you…On a second thought… I thought your account was Hacked but I was wrong…. Self esteem, Dignity and reputation all ignited at ago.”

Robzie: “I think it still makes less sense! We’re painfully watching taxpayers money get wasted recklessly Loudly crying faceLoudly crying faceLoudly crying faceLoudly crying face people are starving, you’re talking of awareness!! There’s no better awareness that we’ve had all this time! We’ve listened to president, we’ve seen all awareness messages.”
