Locals in Magamaga , Mayuge district were left shocked after the discovery of a butchered lifeless body of an Uganda Peoples Defence Forces-UPDF soldier on Monday morning.

The late Sergeant Samson Emoding attached to the Engineering Brigade in Magamaga town council was found by area residents lying in a pool of blood along a rail line in Magamaga Town Council.

The lifeless body was badly bruised with deep cut wounds like that sustained from a sharp object on the neck, shoulders, hands, and knees.

Also discovered about 100 meters away from the dead body were bloodstains and traces of vehicle tyres four meters reportedly pointing to a sign of struggle before his demise.

Some of the locals claim the deceased was last sighted alive and well on Sunday evening although they allege that vehicle sounds were unusually heard close to the deceased’s household that night.

George Musinguzi, the UPDF Spokesperson in the Busoga sub-region, says the deceased’s body is currently at Mayuge health center IV mortuary for a postmortem as investigations are underway to establish circumstances surrounding Emoding’s death.

This is the second incident of murder involving a soldier at the same spot in December 2019 another soldier Joel Cherukut was dumped along the rail line under similar circumstances.
