Police in Wandegeya has in custody 32 people held for flouting the presidential directives on social distancing and curfew.

The group was arrested on Wednesday night after Poice spotted them at bars and local cinema halls at Katanga in Wandegeya, Kampala gathered in small crowds while watching football.

They were netted by alert police officers on a night patrol stealthy enjoying the Premier league match i.e Arsenal vs Liverpool.

Kampala Metropolitan Police mouthpiece Patrick Onyango says the group that consists mostly of young male adults is currently being detained at the Wandegeya Police Station.

He says all the 32 have already been charged with disobedience of lawful orders and doing acts likely to spread infectious disease which in this case is COVID-19.

Onyango has warned the public against continued violation of the directives and guidelines issued by the President and the Ministry of Health.

Among them is avoiding gathering in large crowds or holding unlawful assemblies and maintaining curfew which starts a 7:00 pm and ends at 6:30 am daily.

Uganda registered its first Covid-19 positive case on March 21and it has currently registered 1,043 Covid-19 cases,1004 recoveries, and 0 deaths.
