Last week the internet was awash by photos and video of Dr Aceng while flouting the presidential directives on covid-19. She was seen holding a public gathering without putting on a face mask or observing social distancing.

Being the frontline person in the fight against this pandemic, Aceng has always advised Ugandans to maintain a social distance through the Tonsembelera campaign, wearing face masks, avoiding crowded places among other things, but many Ugandans were disappointed seeing the Minister doing contrary to what she preaches.

And basing on Aceng’s ‘careless mistake’, Fifi Da Queen through her social media platform on Monday advised the minister not to bother apologizing, but instead she should just resign from her positon or else she will drag her to courts of law.

“Hon. Aceng you have nothing to tell us, actually resign from your position. If not, we are going to use your pictures as reference and evidence about the existence of Corona in Uganda in courts of law. We are tired of the prison where you are keeping us,”

Despite the trolls she has been receiving from the public, Dr, Aceng claimed that people misinterpreted the event, but she was launching the distribution of facemasks in Aromo sub county and training people on how to properly use them contrary to the media reports that she was holding a political rally.

“However, at the time, village health teams (VHTs) and other youth were also being oriented on the processes for distribution of the Long lasting mosquito net distribution nearby. They got excited when they heard about face masks, and specifically the Minister for health whom they call ‘mama Corona’ and rushed to see me. They were difficult to control as seen in the picture as many wanted to take pictures and also get masks from me,” Dr Aceng said in a statement on Sunday.

“I took time to educate these youths on the same as well as on the face masks. They left as very knowledgeable people appreciating the importance of face masks and social distancing.”
