Locals in Kabale are mourning the death of a 23-year-old man who was discovered hanging with a wire at the residence of his grandmother.

The deceased Amon Ahabwe who was a resident of Omwibare cell, Rushaki Ward in Southern division Kabale municipality had a reputation for being high on illicit narcotic drugs.

A Narcotic is an addictive drug that affects someone’s mood or behavior, especially an illegal one.

Police in Kabale are treating it as a suicide case and are investigating circumstances that led the deceased to end his own life.

Locals narrated that prior to hanging himself on Sunday, Ahabwe reportedly destroyed a banana plantation for unknown reasons, an act they believe was influenced by the narcotic drugs he had used.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi police mouthpiece says police a postmortem has since been concluded, and the body handed over to the family for burial.
