Police in Kampala have launched investigations into a dramatic shooting incident that rocked the National Unity Platform-NUP offices twice on Tuesday.

The shooting took place after prominent city music promoter and socialite Charles Olim aka Sipapa stormed the Kyambogo based head offices in the afternoon during the lord mayorship vetting process and started firing live bullets.

Joel Senyonyi, the NUP spokesperson says as if that was not enough, Sipapa again returned in the evening with his gun and fired at the youth present , injuring one after damaging the gate.

Ssenyonyi says they called in police who surprisingly didn’t arrest him but simply escorted him out.

This is the second time in less than 2 months that Sipapa has opened fire at the NUP offices, the first time was in August 2020.

According to the police mouthpiece Fred Enanga,Sipapa reported the incident to police alleging that he was provoked by NUP supporters to open fire.

However this time around, Enanga says they will investigate the incident as long as they filed a complaint of the shooting at the school.
