Local musician Ragga Dee real names Daniel Kazibwe is set to be officially nominated today by the Electoral commission-EC as a contender for the Kampala Lord mayoral seat.
So far 3 candidates including the incumbent mayor Erias Lukwago, Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala on NUP ticket, and musician Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleon were nominated yesterday.
During the vibrant nominations, all the three put up a good show while vowing to take Kampala’s focal point seat come 2021.
The Kampala Woman member of Parliament Nabillah Naggayi Ssempala has vowed to unseat incumbent Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
Naggayi added that her decision to leave parliament to contest as Lord Mayor was timely because she intends to use her position once elected to deal with both politics and technical matters like sports.
On his part, Chameleone while addressing the media outside the EC Ntinda based office maintained he is still a member of the NUP but he has decided to proceed with his aspirations because of public demand and God’s calling.
According to the acting spokesperson of the Electoral Commission Paul Bukenya, today is the deadline for nominations of all local government leaders including the district councilors, and mayors.
Ragga Dee alongside other aspirants including DP’s Beatrice Kayanga will be nominated today.
