Police in Iganga district are investigating a shooting incident involving a security guard who reportedly fired at a suspected criminal on Monday morning.
The incident happened at Nakavule Lubale village when a security guard belonging to blue light security fired live bullets at a suspected thug who was trespassing into a home he was protecting to steal.
The guard was protecting the residence of Hon Peter Mugema aka Panadol.
Fred Enanga the police mouthpiece says the Guard identified as Mudasi Gonsaga who is currently in police custody nabbed the suspect trying to steal motor vehicle spare parts and killed him on spot using his firearm.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
Enanga says the body of the victim has been transferred to Nakavule hospital as police establish the claims surrounding the shooting.
