National Unity Party had a rude awakening on Wednesday!

The party manned by Robert Kyagulanyi saw police and army close off roads to their offices.

The joint team ransacked the NUP offices in search of material said to be illegal for use.

The red beret cap according to the army who issued a statement last year in September stopped anyone other than the military from wearing it.

The army did not only stop at raiding the party offices in Kamwokya but also targeted those making the material in the different parts of the city.

The city remained paralysed as security maintained a heavy presence across the day.

Bobi Wine took to his twitter account to explain the long day at his offices and other parts of the city.

He narrated: “Our team has just finished assessing what has been stolen in broad daylight. Been informed that most of our forms with signatures for nominations have been taken away!”

“They have also taken 23M ugx part of which was meant to facilitate our MP candidates with nomination fees.”

Bobi went on: “I have also been informed that so many of our people who are selling NUP branding materials in town are being arrested with reckless abandon. Instead of weakening us comrades, let these actions strengthen us and increase our resolve.”

The NUP chief castigated: “Seeing the hundreds of soldiers and police officers deployed today is evidence that the dictator is so scared of us. We are not giving up. We are not giving in and shall overcome.”

Bobi added: “The military and police just raided our head office in Kamwokya. They have broken into offices and taken away valuable documents and other items.”

He explained the fate of his supporters: “Some comrades have been injured. The partisanship of security agencies ahead of the election is stinking. We shall overcome.”
