David Lewis Rubongoya spent the better part of last night in jail.
Rubongoya (pic above thanks to NBS Tv) was arrested by security and driven to away to Kira Police Station after he appeared at NBS TV Frontline show.
Police blocked the entrances to the television station located in Naguru where the National Unity Platform Secretary General was hosted alongside Salam Musumba, Odonga Otto, Norbert Mao and Ofwono Opondo.
Mao followed up Rubongoya to Kira Police Station. The Democratic Party President revealed that a cameraman was also arrested.
Rubongoya donned a red beret during the live show. However, Mao explained: “We’re here with David Lewis Rubongoya at Kira Road Police Station. Obviously this is not about the Red Beret but rather what it represents – the discontent of a generation!”
The DP chief said: “The answer is not arrests, brutalizations or persecution but a response to the discontent and redress of wrongs.”
Mao confirmed Rubongoya’s release Friday morning: “David Rubongoya ⁩is out on bond but sadly the NUP cameraman Luqman who was arrested alongside him is still in police custody.”
He added: “We’ll get him out tomorrow at dawn first thing. I hope this matter ends up in court so that the judges can give their interpretation!”
