President Yoweri Museveni Tuhaburwa has been duly nominated as a presidential flag bearer on the NRM ticket to run for presidency during the 2021 polls.

Museveni arrived at the presidential nomination grounds in Kyambogo at about 9;45 as usual Clad in the NRM vibrant yellow colors accompanied by his entourage of 10 including his wife Janet Museveni, NRM EC secretary-general Justine Kasule Lumumba, AND other government officials prime minister Ruhakana Rugunda, vice president Edward Sekandi, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, Govt spokesperson Ofowono Opondo, commissioner-general of prisons among others.

His papers were scrutinized by a panel of Electoral commission officials for the nomination requirements that include 3 copies of nomination papers expressing his interest in vying for the presidency, proof of academic papers for O and A, proof of 1st and 2nd to ensure they are registered voters among others.

He was later announced as duly nominated by the EC boss Justice Byabakama who advised him to Appoint an official agent who will organize and attend meetings on his behalf, avail to the EC with a copy of his campaign structure meetings and program ahead of the campaigns, and sign an MoU with EC to adhere to the standard operating procedures.

Museveni Tuhaburwa Yoweri who is the 1st candidate to be nominated has thanked the NRM supporters who availed him with their signatures as required by the Electoral Commission.

He says the NRM will this afternoon launch its manifesto. He has also warned Ugandans to take seriously the COVID-19 pandemic which has claimed many lives in Uganda both Old and young by adhering to the standard operating procedures-SOPs by the Ministry of Health to avoid contracting covid 19.

The new National Resistance Movement (NRM) manifesto will be rolled out at 2 pm and entails a new five-year-plan Museveni hopes to achieve once re-elected.

Museveni also tweeted on Sunday night that he will launch the manifesto whose theme is Securing your Future, shortly after his nomination.

He says the NRM has an unmatched record of performance and a clear vision of Securing Your Future.
