Campaigns have entered day 15 and candidates continue to traverse the country seeking votes.
NUP’presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has resumed his campaigns in Kyegekwa, Kyenjojo, and Fort portal on Monday 23rd November after he was granted bail last week, following his arrest.
However, his first meeting that happened at Kyegegwa town council, at Humura Primary School Playground met some resistance from security.
As the crowds kept forming to welcome Kyagulanyi, police swung into action, blocking him and diverting his route.
His supporters were stopped from proceeding to the venue as teargas erupted to disperse the crowds that were gradually forming into a mass rally.
Kyagulanyi finally accessed the venue where he implored his supporters not to lose hope despite harassment from security agencies.
While at Kibuye, Kyagulanyi asked Kyegegwa residents not to give up despite harassment from security agencies.
“I want to tell you that you should vote for anyone seeking change because we have to work together,”Kyagulanyi said
Bobi is already in Kyenjojo where excited supporters welcomed him with cheers as he headed to Kyenjojo District for the day’s second campaign meeting.
According to the NUP mouthpiece Joel Ssenyonyi, they are plans to reschedule his campaign programs in places where he was supposed to go before, he was arrested. The districts are Mpigi, Masaka, Kalungu, Mbarara, Lyantonde.
The Electoral Commission on Sunday issued a revised campaign calendar.
This comes after candidates from the opposition halted their campaigns in protest of the arrests of their competitors Kyagulanyi and Patrick Oboi Amuriat.
It also followed riots over Kyagulanyi arrest that led to the killing of over 45 people and multiple injuries.
