Uganda now has an ISO certified fuel laboratory following Vivo Energy Uganda’s laboratory accreditation by the International
Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025:2017. Vivo Energy Uganda is the marketer and distributor of Shell-branded fuels and products.

The ISO/IEC 17025 is the highest accreditation globally in the energy industry. For an organization to be ISO/IEC 17025 accredited, its laboratory must be able to consistently produce accurate tests, have rigorous Quality Management Systems(QMS), and must repeatedly show improvements in laboratory performance. “This is a confirmation of our ability to conduct correct, verifiable, and replicable test results at our laboratory, the first of its kind in the country. With this certification, customers can be assured that the products at any of our Shell service stations meet the same quality as what is sold in global markets,” said Allan Kibaya the HSSEQ Manager at Vivo Energy Uganda.

He further added that the certification is a further assurance to customers of the high quality of Shell fuels and lubricants.
To celebrate the milestone, Vivo Energy Uganda will hold a series of activities during its Quality Week between 23rd – 27th October 2020, to drive awareness of fuel quality and showcase the company’s product quality control mechanisms to customers.
“We are very proud to have received the ISO/IEC17025 accreditation. At Vivo Energy Uganda, we are continuously challenging ourselves to improve our Quality Management System to provide products that meet or exceed the needs and expectations of our customers, always complying with the specifications and regulations.” Kibaya said.

Vivo Energy Uganda is also certified with ISO 9001: 2015 Certification for implementing Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001:2015 Certification for Environmental Management System and ISO 45001:2018 Certification for Occupational Health and
Safety. “We will carry out quality tests on fuels at randomly selected service stations and commercial business partner sites. This is in an effort to reassure our customers of our quality products,” Kibaya concluded.

The Quality Week shall climax with the commissioning of the company’s ISO/IEC 17025 accredited Fuels Laboratory by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. Dr. Mary Goretti Kitutu on Friday 27 th November 2020.
