Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has dropped a bombshell on Manchester United before Tuesday night’s do-or-die Champions League clash in Leipzig by declaring that the France star wants to leave.

Raiola urged United to sell their £89million record signing next summer or risk losing him for nothing when his contract expires in June 2022 because he claims Pogba won’t sign a new one.

Raiola has cast doubt over Pogba’s future before but the timing of his latest comments will infuriate manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He has to change teams, he has to change the air. He has a contract that will expire in a year and a half, in the summer of 2022, but I believe the best solution for the parties is to sell in the next market.

Raiola also talked up a return to Juventus, who picked up Pogba on a free transfer the first time he left United. ‘He can come back to Turin,’ he added.

His short statement could have massive ramifications and whip up a frenzy of distraction at precisely the point Solskjaer needs absolute focus on the task at hand.

United require at least a draw against RB Leipzig in Germany on Tuesday night to guarantee a place in the knockout stages.

And the fallout from Raiola’s statement is likely to rumble on ahead of their crunch derby clash with Manchester City on Saturday.

Raiola has been agitating for Pogba to move for some time while the 27-year-old midfielder has spoken of his dream of playing for Real Madrid.

Although Pogba scored a stunning goal at West Ham on Saturday, he is known to be unhappy about playing in a deeper role behind Bruno Fernandes.
