The UPDF spokesperson Flavia Byekwaso has set the record straight on where their allegiance lies like an army.

This comes after the army has been criticized by the opposition aspirants and Civil Society Organisations-CSO’s for being partisan and acting on behalf of the ruling government NRM even during campaigns.

The UPDF has come under fire for working with other security forces like the police to flog, shoot at, or arrest opposition candidates and their supporters during the campaigns while acting on behalf of the state.

However, Byekwaso says the army serves the public and their role is to be obedient to the president.

She says the army is ready to support and work under any president who will be democratically voted president of Uganda.
