As days draw closer to the general polls on 20th January 2020, opposition candidates continue to speculate on the legality and neutrality of the electoral process.

Democratic Party -DP President, Nobert Mao has told his voters to carry their own pens on the polling day just to be forearmed.

Speaking to his supporters at Pader Town council on Sunday evening, Mao said voters should be observant of any rumors linked to vote-rigging because of the various strategies in place.

He says no one has the mandate to block a voter from using their own pen on polling day because there is no rule in the constitution of Uganda that stops a voter from using their own pen to cast their ballot.

His statement follows rumors that pens being used at polling centers are faulty and cannot be trusted.

Mao emphasized that voters should rather move with their pens to be on a safer side, than trust the unknown.
